I really did spike their water with vodka for their game tonight because Ty made me mad.

He pinched the brim of his nose, trying to calm his breathing. “That is not why you were called down here Ms. Kemps. I will notify their coach to dump the water before the game.” He glared at me and I shot him an innocent smile.

“Sorry. Ty made me mad. Please don’t dump the water.” I shrugged.

“That is not a reason to do that and they will be dumping the water, you know what? Forget that.” He waved off.

“If that’s not the reason then why am I here?”

“A student has made a claim that she saw you two being very intimate.”

“Who the hell would say something like that?”

“Calm down Brooklyn.” Chris rolled his eyes at me.

“Oh shush.” I waved him off. “Listen Mr. Golding, Chris and I do have more than a regular teacher-student relationship.”

“I will not allow such a thing to happen in my school.” He said, shuffling papers around on his desk.

“Will you let me finish?” I sighed. “Mr. Daniels is my neighbor. You can ask Ty, since you know how close we are and that he’s my neighbor as well. My parents have invited him over for dinner. So, I know him as a sort of family friend. Also, his friend Carter and I hang out quite often. I’m not involved romantically with Chris but I’m not just his student. I consider him a friend.” I laced my fingers together and placed them over my crossed legs.

“Oh, thank god.” He breathed out. “I really thought I was about to have to fire my best teacher.”

“With all due respect sir, you shouldn’t have listened to that particular student anyway. She has attempted an inappropriate relationship with me, if you remember?” Chris said.

“Yes, but I have to take a claim such as that one seriously. Go on you two.” He chuckled to himself.

We got up and walked out of the room, that meeting took up my study hall, so Chris and I walked into Math together. The class stopped and turned open mouthed.

Kristen had no doubt told everyone, and they were all looking at us. Chris walked over to the board and started writing things as I walked straight over to Kristen.

“Are you a fucking idiot?” I asked.

  “What, for telling the truth?”

“The truth my ass. He’s my neighbor, we have mutual friends, and he’s a friend of my parents so of course he’s my friend as well but we are not involved romantically. You had no right to go run your mouth and almost cost him his job.” I snapped my lie at her, by now the whole class was watching.

“I saw you guys making out on his desk after school. That’s not just a friend.” She smirked.

“I was sitting on the desk and he was helping me with a math problem. I don’t know how you got that in your head, but you need to get over this obsession you have.” I crossed my arms and glared at her.

“You got Ty to delete my proof but that doesn’t mean I won’t expose you two for what you really are!” She raised her voice.

“Kristen, it’s completely inappropriate that you would think I would have a relationship with a student. You have been transferred from my class. You may leave now.” Chris came over.

“This is bullshit,” she mumbled, getting up and walking out of the room.

“Back to class everyone,” Chris said as I scrambled to my seat with my friends.

  Chapter 22

  “M

aria, just please slow down!” I shouted, finally catching up and falling into step with her.

“Sorry! I just really want that hot chocolate.” She smiled sheepishly.

“So do I, but you don’t see me running like a mad woman.” I caught my breath.

  “But Brooooooke!”

“You dragged me to a football game when you knew I was going to Chris’ house!” I pouted.

“Oh shush! You love football.” She waved me off.

“Yeah I know but I love Christopher even more.”

“And that is how you know it’s real.” She grinned.

“I know.” I pouted, as we got our hot chocolates.

“Stop being such a negative Nancy! You’re going to stay the night with him anyway.” She hit me with a lot of force, making me stumble a bit and my hot chocolate splash a little on to my hand.

I hissed in pain as the scorching hot chocolate hit my bare hand.

“Don’t hit me again or I will kill you.” I narrowed my eyes and she apologized.

“Did you hear that Kristen was suspended for slander?”

“Yes. I am one of the ones’ she slandered.” I rolled my eyes.

We walked back over to our seats in the stands of roaring people and cheered the boys on for the remainder of the game. It was their last home game of the season, and it was an extended season as well, so everyone came out to support them.

After the game was finally over, Maria and I rushed down to greet all of them.

“You guys played the fuck out of that game!” I said, hugging them as they agreed with me, all too cockily.

I hung around for about ten minutes with them.

“I love you guys, but I have to get going, I’m sorry.” I said before I rushed out of the school grounds and got into my car.

It was eleven thirty and I was supposed to be at his house by nine o’clock.

I frantically scurried inside of his house and locked the door behind me.

“Christopher!” I yelled throughout the dim-lighted house, walking into the living room. “I am so sorry-” I cut myself off as a surprised squeal left my mouth and I was twirled around.

“You’re late,” his husky voice whispered in my ear as he sat me down carefully.

“I know. I’m sorry. Maria wouldn’t let me leave until the game was over.” I frowned.

“That’s okay. I have you all to myself now.” He laughed, picking me up and carrying me into his bedroom. He threw me onto his bed.

  “Is that so?” I giggled.

“That is so.” He nodded, crawling into the bed with me and pulling me into him.

“Gosh, I’ve missed you,” I mumbled, closing my eyes and inhaling his cologne.

“I’ve missed you too. I have to tell you something.”

“What?” I felt my heart beating in my chest.

“My parents invited us to lunch at their place. The whole family will be there.”

“Oh.” I slapped him hard on his naked torso causing a sound from the contact.

  “Brooklyn!” He yelped.

“I was thinking of so many things that could’ve happened! But yes, lunch sounds good.” I snuggled closer.

“I mean, Drake’s going to be there.”

“That’s okay. I’ll be with you.” I poked his nose.

“I am so lucky to have you.”

“Sure you are, Christopher.” I hummed, falling into the darkness around me.

  Chapter 23

  “B

rooke, it’s so good to see you!” Lilly wrapped me in a hug, stealing me away from ‘Uncle Gary’.

  That man creeped me out.

  “I know. I’ve missed you.”

“We need to talk later, catch up and things.”

“I’d love that.” I grinned, making my way back to Chris before another relative could whisk me away.

“I see Lilly is still fond of you.” He threw his arm over my shoulder and pulled me into him.

“Yes. I really miss her. We became so close. We did everything together. Aside from Maria, she was my only friend that’s a girl.” I dwelled in the past for just a few seconds, reminiscing on all the things we used to do together.

“Yes, when you were with my brother.” He cringed.

I nodded in response and leaned against him.

“Come on everyone, let’s go eat!” Mrs. Daniels shouted over the chaos of the family.

Chris’ mom gathered everyone around the table and ordered us to eat. His family kept shooting us sly smiles and welcoming me warmly to their family throughout the whole lunch.

Everything was going smoothly—until Drake showed up—as usual.

“Brooke, can I talk to you?” Drake’s voice pleaded.

  “No,” Chris answered for me.

The whole table got silent, watching the exchange between the three of us. It made me incredibly uncomfortable.

“I’m not asking you.” He snarled before turning his attention back to me. “Please Brooke?”

  “Why?” I asked.

“I have some things that I want to discuss with you, privately.”

“I do not want my girlfriend alone with you,” Chris retorted.

“Can’t you talk to me here?” I gave him a blank stare.

“No. It’s important It won’t be long.”

“Fine.” I sighed, surprising both brothers.

“I’m not comfortable with you being alone with him.” Chris held my hand tight.

“I’ll be okay. If I’m not back in five minutes, come get me.” I kissed him swiftly on the forehead. I excused myself from the table, and then proceeded to follow Drake up the winding stair case and into his old room.

Memories flooded into my mind from all the time we spent in this room. He shut the door behind him as I stood uneasily.

“What is it that you want?” I ask.

“Brooke, I’m sorry. I was such an idiot.” He sighed, leaning against the door.

I felt my jaw drop. “You’re sorry? Oh my God.” I threw my hands up. “I never thought I’d see the day.” I shook my head in disbelief.

“I was an idiot. I needed the money and you were just a bet to me. I never loved the old you but you’re a totally different girl now.” He stepped closer to me.

“I’m the same exact girl. I just look a little different.” I inched away until I felt the back of my knees hit his bed.

“No.” He shook his head smiling, only mere inches away from me. “You’re gorgeous. You always have been, I found that out the night we had sex. When I took your virginity, I was fucking obsessed. I didn’t want to leave you.” His fingers traced my cheek softly.

“Then why did you?” I gulped.

“I had to. The bet wasn’t just for me to sleep with you. It was to break your heart.”

My heart dropped, and tears welled up in my eyes. I looked away, but he grabbed my chin roughly and forced me to look at him.

“How could you be so cruel?”

“I’m obsessed with you even now,” he whispered, his warm breath fanning over my face.

I pulled away from him quickly and sat down on the bed, furiously running my fingers through my hair.

“I loved you. I would’ve killed to hear you say those words before I met Chris. Now, I know that all we had before was bogus. You didn’t love me, and I was just in love with the idea of love. I thought I was the tomboy who actually captured the heart of the star basketball player.” I felt a tear trickle out of my tear ducts and I hastily wiped it away. “I cried so much. I was a mess. You broke me. I was afraid of other guys. Then I met your brother. I fell in love. I’ve fallen so hard. Christopher is such a blessing to me.”

“Bullshit. You still love me. Not my brother. Not the golden son. Not you too,” he muttered to himself repeatedly, punching the wall in a manic attempt to let his anger out.

I froze at the sound of his punches. I didn’t know what to do.

He stopped a few seconds later, looking me in my eyes. “And I can prove it to you.” He leered sinisterly.

I shook my head, but no words could come out. I felt as if my throat had closed. I was in shock and I couldn’t move.

I was afraid of Drake. I was horrified of what he was going to do next. I had never seen that look in his eyes before.

He stalked over to me and threw himself on top of me, smashing his mouth to mine and thrusting his tongue inside my mouth. His body pinned mine down and there was nothing I could do to fight back.

I couldn’t move; I couldn’t scream. I could only hope that Chris came to look for me. His hands wandered feverishly down my body and stopped between my legs. His hand slowly started entering my panties and I cursed myself for coming up here with him. I squeezed my eyes shut.

When his hand made contact between my legs he moaned. That was when my body finally allowed me mobility. I screamed for Chris before his hand pulled back and clamped over my mouth as I struggled and whimpered under him.

“Shut up. I know you still love me. You have to let me prove it.” He had a psychotic glint in his eyes, making me cower down.

This wasn’t Drake. I knew he was an asshole but I never in a million years would have thought he was like this.

Just as I was about to lose all hope, the door slammed open and someone jerked him off me.

I saw Lilly. I must have looked destroyed because as soon as Chris came in, he took one look at me on the bed and launched himself at Drake.

“I don’t know why he did this.” I began hiccupping on my sobs uncontrollably as his parents came in.

His dad was struggling with his sons to stop fighting, his mom and Lilly consoled me and quickly removed me from the chaotic room.

They sat me on the couch in the living room; Lilly stayed with me as Mrs. Daniels rushed the rest of the family out.

“I’m so sorry,” I murmured repetitively as Lilly held onto me, soothingly rubbing her hand across my back.

“You have nothing to be sorry for.”

I cried myself unconscious in Lilly’s arms.

  Chapter 24

  “I

am fine Christopher!” I shouted, exasperated for the millionth time today.

It had been two weeks since the incident with Drake occurred. Chris felt responsible for letting me go with Drake and had been overly protective.

It was my own fault for going with him. Drake has been diagnosed with a bipolar disorder and was being put on medication. That should’ve made me feel better, knowing that he wasn’t in his right state of mind, but it didn’t.

Chris assured me that he wouldn’t allow Drake within a mile radius of me ever again.

“I just want to make sure you’re okay.”

“I am perfectly fine, Mr. Daniels.” I winked playfully as he shot me a death glare.

“I’m happy that I get you all to myself.”

  “I know. So am I.” I grinned.

I had told Ty about the whole incident and he had me on home bound for two weeks. It seemed he blamed Chris for allowing me to go up with Drake as well, but it was my own stupidity.

It was nice finally being able to spend time with Chris again though. Lilly had come over a lot and we were getting close again. Maria, Lilly, Sophie and I were all good friends now. Lilly had fit in with us so easily and they all loved her. Cliff had really taken a liking to her.

“I have a surprise for you.”

  “What is it?”

“Go grab one of my hoodies and get in my car.” He pointed towards the closet.

“Yes sir.” I winked, doing exactly as he asked.

When I got in his car he smiled at me.

“What?” I asked, feeling a smile pull at my lips.

“Nothing.” He shook his head, pulling out of the drive way.

  “Where are we going?”

“I’m not telling you.” He laughed.

  “But Christopher!”

  “I’m not telling you.”

  “What if I guess?”

  “Guess away.”

  “Amusement park?”

  “No.”

  “Zoo?”

  “No.”

  “A hotel?”

  “No. Unless you’re implying something?”

  “I am. Dinner?”

“Nope,” he replied popping the p.

After a couple more guesses, I finally gave up and huffed. “Just tell me!”

“Well, we’re here.” He chuckled, parking his car on the side of the road.

“Why did you...” I trailed off as the memories to our first date came flooding back to me. “You took me back to the waterfall!” I jumped onto him in the driver’s seat and kissed him.

“Let’s go.” He got out of the car with me in tow.

We intertwined our hands and strolled through the woods to reach our spot. When we stepped out of the woods and into the area that the pond was at, I gasped.

“It’s still just as beautiful as I remember it.” I grinned.

“You haven’t seen it in the day light and I wanted to change that.” He bent down to kiss me.

“I wish it wasn’t cold out. We could’ve gone swimming.” I bit my lip. “And you haven’t been skinny dipping. I really wanted to change that.”

He groaned as a glint of lust in his eyes appeared. “I love you so much Brooklyn.”

“I love you just as much Christopher.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled his lips to mine.

He picked me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He walked us over until I felt a tree hit my back. His mouth left mine as he peppered kisses down my collarbone making a moan escape my lips.

“You really want to do this against a tree?” I asked in a thick voice, tilting my head to the side as he brought his face level to mine.

  “Only if you do.”

  “Oh. I’m not complaining.”

He chuckled before kissing me deeply.

  “THAT DIDN’T TAKE US long.”

“Well, I haven’t been with you in a while.” He blushed.

  “I know. I’ve missed it.”

“That was amazing,” he said as we lay on the forest ground, after pulling our clothes back on.

  “It’s always amazing with you.”

“I really do love you. I can’t wait until you graduate, and we can be seen together in public. I want everyone to know that I’m yours just as you are mine.”

“I really do love you. You’re the man of my dreams.”

  “You’re the woman of mine.”

“We only have four more months.”

“Four more months,” he repeated back to me as he kissed my palm gently.

  Chapter 25

  4 months later

I stood in front of the floor length mirror in the schools’ bathroom. My hair tumbled down to my waist in waves, I had on a blue graduation robe with a white sleeveless dress that came mid-thigh underneath it and had on white wedges to give me some height. My makeup was done naturally, and I could feel the butterflies fluttering about in my stomach.
