  Chapter 1

When the heroine decides to use a lust potion

W hat the fuck was wrong with Carla’s friends?

It was the day before Christmas and as they had done for the past fifteen years, Carla, Isis, and Rose shared the gifts they had made for each other in advance. There was no way Rose would wait for more than this. Every year it was the same, Rose would go as far as to beg Carla and Isis to open the Christmas presents earlier. Or threaten the girls with revealing what she had bought for them if they didn’t open the packages. Yes, she would spoil the surprise but she didn’t care. She wanted – no, needed – them to know what she had gifted.

Three years ago, she had even managed — by which miracle, Carla couldn’t remember — to make the girls open their Christmas gifts on December 22nd . She had talked about it for months after .

But Rose’s impatience wasn’t from a greedy or selfish place. What she loved was seeing the face of her two friends when they opened their presents because she always made the most extravagant gifts and she reveled in the sight when the shock on her friends’ faces registered.

This time was no different. Carla was now the proud owner of a collection of shiny butt plugs.

The gift in itself was funny but not so surprising, except for the fact that Rose had managed to make the thing Carla was supposed to “store” them on look like Thanos’ gauntlet, the shiny (orange, red, blue, purple, green and yellow) butt plugs representing each an infinity stone.

The only thing Rose said after offering it to Carla was a cryptic “maybe it’ll spice things up a bit.”

Carla had gotten the memo, even more so when she received Isis’s gift. A lust potion.

Yeah, a lust potion, not a love potion.

Rose had laughed so much that tears had slipped out of her eyes when Isis had explained what the shiny pink liquid was supposed to do: enhance sexual attraction and give a little push to act on the said attraction.

Carla smiled to her friends but inside she was screaming. Her friends did everything to help her through the rough time Carla and her fiancé Harry were facing, but it was so painful to see that so many years of love with him had turned into companionship. And they weren’t even married yet!

She wasn’t surprised by the kind of present Isis had gifted her. Isis was a witch. She had discovered that fact when, on Halloween night, the summoning circle she had drawn had miraculously worked. And even if life had been a bit chaotic after this event, Isis was happily in a relationship with the succubus demon she had summoned .

She was also working with Marie-Ariel, a grumpy — and highly sexually suggestive — witch to become a full witch herself too. It meant that both Carla and Rose were getting witchy gifts this year. Carla got a lust potion and Rose a bush of roses that she had to spray with a potion that was supposed to prevent the plant from dying.

It would have been a useless gift if only Rose had even a tiny bit of a green thumb. But as it was, Rose had managed to kill bamboo, a succulent, and even a cactus! She needed the potion.

Carla offered nothing as funny or useful to her friends. No, she liked the idea of offering “time” spent with the people she loved, which meant Isis was due for a two-hour baking lesson with her at the time of her choosing. She wasn’t the one who would teach though, Carla couldn’t cook even if her life depended on it. It was a lesson with a real chef. For Rose, she appealed to her artistic soul — she was the only one of the three friends that could draw anything that would turn out halfway decent— and they were scheduled for a pottery lesson even if Carla was a bit scared of what she would end up making.

True to herself, Rose offered Isis something surprising, but only by its color. It was a witchy set composed of a pointy hat, an immense cauldron — that probably wouldn’t fit in Isis’ tiny apartment — pots and utensils to mix potions… all in a sparkling shiny pink color. It was a sight to behold.

By the end of the afternoon, the three friends ended up trying to make a cocktail in the cauldron. The very big cauldron.

The mix of rum, vanilla, cinnamon, and different sorts of juices was surprisingly good but they had made way too much of it. They transferred the rest of it in two bottles, spilling a good portion of it on Carla’s kitchen floor in the process. In hindsight, letting the clumsy Rose hold the bottles under the cauldron while Carla and Isis held it, to fill the bottles hadn’t been their best idea.

The three friends finished their day covered with the sweet cocktail.

Now that everything was over, Carla sat in her living room, showered but still smelling the cocktail in the air. She had cleaned the kitchen but it smelled as if the damn liquid had seeped into the floor and the walls and Carla’s house smelled like a frat house after a Hawaiian party. Or what Carla thought it would be, she had never attended that kind of party.

Harry had been out with some friends all afternoon, trying “Cupid”, the new bow and arrow shooting stand that had opened a few months prior. At least he didn’t see the mess the three friends had made, but it also meant that Carla had all the time in the world to think about his absence.

She was deep in thought, cradling the bottle of shiny liquid against her belly, questions swirling in her mind. Would that be so bad to try and use the potion?

Harry was a loving partner, or had been for so long, but now Carla wasn’t sure anymore. Yes, she loved him and she was convinced he did too, but their relationship had started to… well, Carla wasn’t even sure what it had started to be. He was her damn fiancé and sometimes she felt more like he was just a roommate. They never fought or raised their voices, neither he nor she, but it felt as if the passion Carla had felt with him at the beginning of their story had all but vanished in smoke.

Isis’ lust potion was tempting, oh so tempting.

Maybe it would give Carla and Harry the spark that she was missing, something that would rekindle their love and passion. And in the end, something that would save their marriage that hadn’t even started.

The wedding was in five months and if things kept going like this, Carla might not survive the first year of her marriage. She already wanted to yell at Harry to do something, to say something, and above it all, to grab her and forcefully fuck her when he came back from work. She wanted to feel the thrill of passion again, to know he still desired her, that he wanted her like his next breath, or… anything other than the quick kiss on the cheek each day and the bland missionary sex that he had given to her the past few months.

Yes, Isis had been right, Carla needed a little help. And if it came in the form of a shiny pink lust potion she would take it.

It felt awfully like drugging her future husband but Carla was desperate, and desperate times called for desperate measures.

  Chapter 2

  When nothing goes as planned

C arla spent the rest of the day pondering how she would make Harry drink the potion. Serving it to him would look suspicious for sure and it would look like Carla was acting out of the ordinary, so it wasn’t an option.

Leaving a glass of the potion somewhere in the kitchen or next to him wouldn’t work either because it would just end up thrown away in the sink and no one would drink it.

The last option Carla found was to leave a glass of it next to the Christmas cookies she had set in the living room next to the tree. Harry was always the one who put the presents under the tree and there was a good chance that he would drink while he set everything up before they went to bed. Both their families would be here for lunch the following day and with nephews and niece being young and still believing in Santa, it was better if everything was ready before anyone arrived .

Once she was done setting everything up, Carla went to their bedroom. She had stopped waiting for Harry to join her in bed when she went to sleep. He suffered from insomnia and most of the time she fell asleep before he did and woke up in a huge and empty bed, always feeling cold despite the thick comforter.

Carla woke up with a start. The bed was once again empty next to her, so she wasn’t surprised when she heard a noise coming from downstairs. She couldn’t pinpoint if it came from the kitchen or the living room. Maybe Harry still couldn’t sleep and decided to watch a movie. It wasn’t good, though. If he didn’t sleep even a bit, she would be the one having to deal with his sister’s kids while he would be napping on the couch. The three kids were cute and well-behaved most of the time, but they were… well, they were kids.

“They are a fucking tornado,” Carla thought to herself.

And she wasn’t in the mood to deal with them on her own. She would bring back Harry to bed and force him to sleep. Or if the potion had worked, they would have sex until they both were spent. Oh yeah, Carla liked this idea very much.

With a smile on her face, she walked down the stairs, thinking about how this night could become very interesting.

But it wasn’t Harry in the living room. Harry had brown hair cropped short, glasses that gave him a nerdy vibe and he was tall, but not as tall as the man who was currently in Carla’s house. This stranger had dirty blond hair that reached his shoulders and a short beard of the same color. He was dressed in an all-black outfit, with large cargo pants and a long sleeve shirt that seemed to hug every hard plane of his well-defined torso.

If Carla wasn’t so shocked at the presence of a stranger inside her house, she would have taken the time to gaze at the muscles rippling each time he moved, turning each and every small movement into a hypnotizing dance.

Who was she kidding? She was stuck in the middle of her own stairs ogling a man who had no right to be there.

She should have been screaming or hiding in a corner to call the cops but instead, she was mesmerized by the graceful way this stranger was moving.

No, no, no, she needed to be mad, not panting after him. Because there was no way to misinterpret what he was doing. The huge burlap bag filled with presents — presents that Carla remembered wrapping up — resting near the Christmas tree made it abundantly clear.

Carla cursed herself for leaving her phone in her room and started to walk up the stairs in reverse, keeping an eye on the handsome thief in her living room, remembering all those summers camping with her father and the lessons he had imparted at that time.

“Never turn your back on a predator and move slowly.” She could still hear him loud and clear in her head from the only time they had faced a mama puma on a hike. She had been petrified and couldn’t stay still at the same time. Her father had understood the need in her eyes to run and had brought her enough calm with soothing words for her to heed his warning and act as he had asked.

She had been thirteen when it had happened, and the same feeling from back then was now coursing her veins. Despite the handsomely carved features of the stranger in her house, she could feel the danger lurking under the pretty Viking facade of the man.

Except, this time the danger called to her and she needed to hurry back into her room or she wasn’t sure she would be able to tear her eyes from him.

But then, he turned his head in her direction and she drowned his dark green eyes. And like when she had been when she was thirteen, she felt petrified, as if ensnared by the big predator in front of her.

  Chapter 3

When the heroine feels like prey

C arla snapped out of the haze in her brain when the man started to move in her direction. She needed to run away and grab her phone, she needed to be as far away from that man as she could. Yes, she knew she should be running but by the time she started to move he already had gotten closer and she still didn’t want to turn her back to him… or run. Slowly she walked up the stairs keeping her eyes fixed on the stranger heading her way.

His shirt stretched over his hulking shoulders each time he took a step, making it seem as if each movement rippled through his body seamlessly.

Carla kept walking up the stairs blindly, feeling the wall under the palm of her hand guiding her up, until she reached a corner, ducked behind it, and ran .

She felt her legs burn under the demanding pace she imposed on herself, finally reaching her room. God she needed to go back to the gym, she was so out of shape.

From the corridor, she could see her phone on the bedside table. Her salvation. She glanced over her shoulder to see if the Viking was still following her but her step fell short. There was no one behind her.

She could have sworn he had been following her. Where was he now?

She turned her head in the direction of her room again and smacked her face against a hard surface. Fuck that hurt!

She rubbed her nose with two fingers. She would be lucky if she didn’t end up with a bruise on her face after this.

She raised her face, preparing to uselessly glare at the door of her room but was greeted by a hungry smirk and two deep pools of green.

She scowled and darted to the side but was stopped by two huge hands encircling her waist.

“There will be no running miss,” the stranger said in a deep voice that almost sounded like a purr.

“In your dreams,” Carla answered with enough venom in her words for her to believe she meant it. She curled her hands around his biceps – and oh God she had been right, those were solid rock– and held them for support.

The last thing she heard above her, was the oddly attractive chuckle of the man before she slammed her knee into his balls.

She felt the hands around her waist loosen and she ran in the other direction. Too bad for her phone, she would just have to run to her neighbors and hope that one of them would be awake.

And where the fuck was Harry? It was the middle of the night, she shouldn’t have to deal with any of this on her own .

Carla ran down the stairs, jumping the last three of them and passing next to her living room and then the kitchen, and finally reached the entrance.

The keys were on it and she struggled to open the door only to discover that it wasn’t locked. It wasn’t surprising that someone had broken in, or more like walked in, to rob them. An unlocked door was like taunting thieves.

Carla violently opened the door but the stranger slammed it closed before she managed to take a step out, efficiently caging her against the door.

She was breathless, barely managing to breathe and it was getting worse with this man forcing her against the door.

“Turn, little sparrow,” he growled against her ear.

“Make me,” Carla bit back, closing her fists in preparation for the hit she imagined in her head. Her father’s training was old and she hadn’t practiced for more than ten years, but she remembered where to hit for it to hurt. Kidney, then if she was lucky she could hit his balls again. Like upstairs, she was too close to try to knee his nose after that but was still hoping it would slow him enough that she could open the door and find shelter at one of her neighbors.

He kept his hand above her head and snaked the other around her front, making sure to grab her arms at the same time and turned her in a strong movement, that was surprisingly also soft. Carla didn’t get the time to punch anything before he laid against her front, squeezing her against the door and making her feel all the hard muscles under his shirt.

Carla tried to push against his chest to get more room between the two of them but it was useless, she couldn’t even bring her hands in front of herself. The arm he had used to turn her was still circling her body and rested at the small of her back, the hand holding one of her elbows in an iron grip, forcing the two of them behind her and pushing her tits up right under the stranger’s nose and stretching her red nightgown against her hardened nipples.
