Sweet Retribution, page 13
“You don’t want to play that game,” I warn, moaning as my fingers circle my swollen clit.
“Push your fingers inside yourself, baby.” His eyes are flooded with desire. “I want to see you touching yourself.”
I slip my fingers inside my drenched pussy, but it’s not enough. I need his cock filling me up.
“Fuck. That’s hot.”
“Kai, please.”
He leans over me, continuing to stroke his cock. “Please, what?”
“Please fuck me!” I yell, frustration getting the better of me.
“How badly do you want my cock?”
I sit up, sliding my body to the edge of the table, and grab hold of his hips, tugging him toward me. His eyes are pitch-black as he stares at me. I grip his cock, and he jerks in my hand. I pump him quickly, rubbing my thumb over his crown, soaking up the precum beading there. “Badly.” I guide his cock to my entrance, and he slams his hands into my chest, pushing me back down on the table.
He pins my knees to my chest, parting my folds and playing with my over-sensitized clit.
“Kai. Please, baby. Please. I need you inside me.” I am not above begging. Tears prick my eyes, and he finally takes pity on me, slamming into me in one fast, hard thrust.
I scream, closing my eyes and pivoting my hips up as he slams into me over and over.
Yesss.
This is exactly what I need to release all these crazy pent-up emotions.
I’m grateful this room is soundproofed because the sounds ripping from my mouth are bordering on inhumane.
Kai leans over, continuing to fuck me without mercy, claiming my lips in a searing-hot kiss. Our tongues battle, and he bites down on my lip, not hard enough to draw blood but hard enough to sting. My body floods with heat, and I hug his cock tightly with my inner walls, grabbing hold of his ass and digging my nails into his taut butt cheeks. I don’t touch his back, as he’s still got a bandage strapped around his ribs, and I know he’s in pain, because he’s holding his body stiffly and sweat is pumping out of him.
He wraps one hand around my neck, applying just the right amount of pressure. Not enough to leave a mark but enough to send adrenaline coursing through my body at the implied threat. My eyes roll back in my head as my orgasm peaks and I come, screaming out his name as I feel him releasing inside me.
He didn’t use a condom.
But there’s no need to anymore.
The second that thought flits through my mind, a sob bursts free of my mouth. I’m not fast enough to smother it and he goes rigidly still. Then I’m lifted into his arms, and he’s cradling me to his injured chest. “I’m sorry, baby. I was too rough.”
I shake my head, forcing the tears to subside. “No.” I press a fierce kiss to his lips. “You were perfect.” I gently cup his face, completely at odds with the way we just attacked one another. “It’s not that.” I peer into his eyes, silently communicating what’s on my mind because I can’t voice those words.
“Firecracker.” He winds his hands loosely through my hair. “I fucking love you so much.” He kisses me with infinite tenderness, and it has the power to unravel me, rendering me into a mushy pile on the floor.
“I love you too.” I press my forehead to his and our joint ragged breathing echoes around the room.
“I’m sorry,” we both blurt at the same time, and then we smile. I love how in sync we are. How much we just get one another. I’ve never had this connection with anyone else.
I rest my head carefully on his chest, circling my arms around his waist. “Am I hurting you?” I whisper.
“Never,” he whispers back, running a hand up and down my back.
We stay locked in our embrace for a while, before fixing ourselves up and putting our clothes back on.
Kai drops onto a chair and I curl myself around him, situated in his lap. “Today was fucking hell,” he admits, kissing my temple. “I only found out at the last minute, and I tried to warn you, but your cell was off.”
“It’s okay. I know you would have if you could.” I cup his handsome face. “I fucking hate her. I want to rip her apart with my bare hands. Gouge her eyes out so she can’t give you those pathetic googly eyes and rip out her tongue so that incessantly annoying giggle dies an instant death.”
“She’s a stage five clinger,” he agrees, his face contorting as he shudders. “And it killed me acting like that with her as much as it killed you.”
“You hurt me,” I admit. “When you said you regretted every second you spent with me.” Pain dances in his eyes. “I know you didn’t mean it, and I tried telling myself that, but it didn’t matter. Seeing you whispering with her, and touching her, it … it killed me.”
“I took it too far.” He holds my face in his larger palms. “I didn’t intend to be that hurtful. I knew we needed to snap at one another, to sneer and pretend like we hated each other, but I wasn’t planning on being so touchy with her.”
His tongue darts out, wetting his lush lower lip, and I’m envious.
I want to be the one licking his lips.
Tasting how sweet and sexy they are.
“I let jealousy get the better of me,” he explains. “He was all over you, Abby, and I was frustrated and fucking mad as hell.”
“I couldn’t stop him, Kai, because Father was watching us like a hawk.”
“I noticed.” Kai scowls. “And it wasn’t just him. Everyone was watching us with bated breath.”
“I’m sorry about the kiss.” I drag my nails lightly through the side of his head, in the place where his skull tattoo starts, and he purrs under my touch. “I hated it. And I knew it was upsetting you, but I couldn’t see any way out of it without making it look obvious.”
“I know, baby.” He rubs the underside of my wrist, sending delicious tingles shooting up my arm. “You have no idea how badly I want to end Charlie Barron.” His eyes burn with anger, and he sighs heavily. “But I’ve been thinking about it ever since, and I can’t deny how much he cares about you. And that’s … that’s a good thing.”
My brows climb to my hairline. “What are you saying?”
“He’s genuine in his feelings, Abby. I’ve always thought that, but he confirmed it today. Yes, he was all grabby hands to send me a message, but he loves you. Or at least he thinks he does.”
“And you’re pleased about that?” My voice is laced with disbelief.
“It’s better than the alternative.” His reaction shocks me into silence. “I hate him. I hate every look and every touch. But he won’t let anyone harm you, and that is reassuring. I can’t be there to protect you.” His voice cracks, and his face contorts unpleasantly. “And I’m worrying about you nonstop. It helps that I know he’d die to save you. I still hate the bastard, but it’s better he truly loves you than it being a lie.”
I’m stunned speechless, and Kai knows it. He smiles, tweaking my nose.
Someone pounds on the door. “Open the fucking door, Kai,” Drew shouts.
Kai’s eyes widen. “I thought this room was soundproof? How can we hear him?”
“Xavier built it using this new technology developed by some Italian scientists. It’s kind of like a one-way mirror for sound. They can’t hear us, but we can hear them.”
“Man, he really is a freak.”
I thump him in the arm. “He’s a freaking genius. And we’re lucky he’s on our side.”
“Kai!” Drew roars. “I’m not fucking messing. Open the damn door before I take a sledgehammer to it and your face.”
Kai laughs, and I roll my eyes. Now that we’ve both gotten that off our chests, it’s like a weight has been lifted. I feel lighter and more reassured than when I arrived here. Kai moves to place me on the seat alongside him. “Wait.” I cling onto him. I examine his face closely. “This is going to be infinitely harder than we thought.” I bite down on my lip. “He won’t stop testing us. Pushing us. Can we do this?”
His answering kiss is devoid of the recent tenderness and laced with resolve. “Yes, we can fucking do this.” He grabs hold of my face. “We love each other, and we both understand what we need to do to protect one another and our relationship.” He rubs at my cheek. “No other couple could handle this.” Steely determination glints in his eye. “But we can.” His eyes search mine. “Because we’re one and the same, Abby, and there isn’t anything either of us won’t do to save the other.”
Including kissing other people, it seems. My gut twists painfully at the thought of having to watch Kai kiss that fawning bitch. But if he can watch me kissing Charlie, I guess I’ll just have to suck it up. I still live with the memories of Rochelle grinding in his lap and giving him head, and at least it’s not as bad as that.
Plus, if Dad continues to involve him, then it means Kai and Rick will be at the wedding party in the dungeon, and more hands on deck is always a good thing.
I’ll just have to focus on finding the positives in every situation forced on us rather than dwelling on the negatives.
I press my forehead to his again, ignoring Drew’s latest round of insults as he continues pounding on the door, demanding we open up. “I would die for you, Kai.” I mean it sincerely. “Nothing or no one means more to me than you.”
His lips crush against mine again, and we are both panting when we break apart. “The only ones dying are those bastards who helped give us life.” He sweeps his thumb along my swollen bottom lip. “But you and me aren’t dying, Abby. We’re going to do this. And we’re going to live a long and happy life together.”
I commit his words to memory, knowing I’ll need them to keep me motivated, and sane, in the coming weeks.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
“I still want to punch you,” Drew says, glaring at Kai ten minutes later when we are all seated around the conference table, nursing steaming cups of coffee.
“Do I need to sanitize the table?” Xavier, unhelpfully asks, and Drew growls, his hands fisting into balls on top of the table.
“Chill out, Drew.” I pin him with a cautionary look. “I’ve heard you fucking too many times to count. This room is soundproof, so at least you weren’t subjected to that.”
“With the way he fucking dragged you in here,” he says, prodding his finger in Kai’s direction, “it didn’t take much imagination.”
“I happen to like angry makeup sex,” I admit, blowing on the top of my coffee.
Drew pales. “Not helping, A.” He glowers at Kai. “Not helping at all.”
“You have an issue with the fact your sister enjoys sex, or it’s just Kai you object to?” Jackson asks, his eyes locking on mine in a way that lets me know he’s thinking about what went down in Kai’s room between the three of us.
“I have an issue with my sister being manhandled,” he snaps.
“So, you’ve never had rough sex with Jane?” I ask, knowing full and well he has, because with the way Jane used to scream the house down, it couldn’t have been anything else. I don’t like bringing her name up, because it hurts my brother, but this needs to be put to bed. Kai and Drew have been renewing their friendship and I don’t want this coming in the way of that. Now, more than ever, we all need to be tight.
His nostrils flare as he glares at me, purposely not answering.
“Are we done with this yet?” Sawyer asks, drumming his fingers off the top of the table. “Because I’m pretty sick of the way every conversation we have ends up in the gutter.”
“Have we offended your delicate senses?” Xavier asks, smirking as he kicks his feet up on the table. I swear he’s done that purely to mess with Sawyer.
Sawyer’s eyes zoom to Xavier’s feet and the layer of mud caked to the soles of his boots. “Someone has to try and keep things on track.” He glances at Drew. “Drew is usually our guy, but someone seems to have removed his brain from his skull tonight.” His gaze drills a hole in my brother’s head. “Your sister has rough sex with her husband. Big fucking deal. Get over it.”
Xavier grins, and Jackson chuckles. Drew flips Sawyer the bird, while Kai gloats like he’s King Big Dick.
I sigh. Because he pretty much is.
Not that I’d ever tell him that. Kai’s got a healthy enough ego as it is. No need to send it into orbit.
I squeeze my thighs together as my mind conjures up images of said big dick and my panties are flooded.
Man, I have it so bad.
I look sideways at him, and he grins knowingly. As if he has laser vision and can see how soaked I am for him.
I clear my throat and shake off my sex-obsessed thoughts. “Now that we’ve gotten that settled, what have you discovered about our father?” My gaze skirts between Sawyer and Xavier.
“Hearst Senior, the man who apparently adopted your father, was actually his biological father,” Sawyer confirms.
Drew frowns. “But I thought his mother was a prostitute and her pimp was his dad?”
Xavier shakes his head. “Because that’s the fake story he’d rather have people believe. It’s better than acknowledging he’s the illegitimate bastard son of a wealthy man who was screwing prostitutes behind his wife’s back.”
“I can’t imagine that going down too well within the order or with the council,” Kai says.
“It wouldn’t,” Drew agrees. “It’s one thing to be a down-on-your-luck quasi-orphan and a ward of the state and quite another to be an illegitimate child and dirty little secret. If this was common knowledge, it would cast more doubt on his campaign.”
“Maybe we should release that info anonymously,” Jackson suggests.
“It could be a useful distraction,” I admit, thinking out loud. “But he’ll know someone is on to him then, and we risk exposure before we’re ready.”
“What if we pinned it on this other faction?” Kai says. “Whoever this guy is pulling my dad’s strings?”
“We’d need to know who it was in order to set it up, so the blame falls on him,” Drew adds. “Have you asked your father about him?”
Kai shakes his head. “Not yet. I’ve only started worming my way back in. If I start asking leading questions, he’ll smell a rat. This has to be played carefully.” Kai absently runs his thumb back and forth across the back of my hand, and it’s enormously difficult to concentrate, because his touch does amazing things to my body.
“I don’t think we can use it yet,” I say. “Because that’ll put the bastard on high alert, and he might increase his security, making it even harder to achieve our goals. I think we need to keep that in our arsenal and either we release it closer to the vote to put him on edge, or we include it in the big reveal on the day.”
“Or we keep it in reserve in case we need to use it at some critical point,” Drew suggests.
“Agreed,” Sawyer says, turning his head to me. “What progress are we making on the wedding front?”
“Charlie seems on board,” I supply. “But he hasn’t set a date or anything. I intend to apply pressure this week, so it moves along.”
Anger rolls off Kai in waves, and I kiss him quickly on the lips.
“I’ve mentioned it with Father. Presenting it as the ultimate test,” Drew says, his mouth pulling into a tight line. He tugs at his collar. “His eyes actually lit up at the idea.” He stares at me. “And it makes me unbelievably nervous. If he gets you down there, Abby, he could try anything.”
I lean forward in my chair as Kai’s hand wraps around my arm. “I’ll be with you or Charlie at all times,” I remind him. “I know how dangerous it is, and I won’t risk going anywhere alone.”
“I’m fairly certain Rick and I will be invited,” Kai says. “We can help keep a lookout.”
Sawyer pulls out his phone. “I’ll get some earpieces from Dad,” he says, not looking up as he taps out a message. “He has these new prototypes they’re developing. They are tiny little buds that slot into the ear. Virtually unnoticeable unless you were looking. You can all wear them and keep in contact with one another.”
“How can I score me some of those?” Xavier asks, his eyes glimmering with excitement.
“You can’t.” Sawyer gloats.
“Not even for sexual favors?” Xavier rests his elbows on the table, staring intently at Sawyer. “I’m up for anything in the bedroom. You can do whatever you want to me. Nothing is off-limits.” He waggles his brows, and his tongue darts out, toying with his lip ring.
Drew spits coffee all over the table, and Jackson throws back his head, laughing, because the expression on Sawyer’s face is priceless. It’s a cross between wanting to throttle Xavier with his bare hands and wanting to test him to see if he means it.
I can’t see Xavier and Sawyer on the same wavelength to ever start something permanent. But I wonder if they’ll end up hooking up at some point. There is enough tension between them to suggest that’s a possibility.
“Screw off, Xavier. Hell will freeze over before I let you touch my cock,” Sawyer says, and Kai rolls his eyes.
“What about the security system in the dungeon? Any luck there?” I ask, not even attempting to disguise my deliberate change of subject.
Sawyer shoots me a grateful look. “Drew found some old plans from the time the place was constructed, and we’re building a picture of the layout. My father has given me a couple of trustworthy guys, and they are working around the clock to infiltrate the firewall and to descramble the video footage from Christmas Day. Your father obviously hired guys who knew what they were doing to set the whole thing up, but my dad’s guys are better. We’ll get there.”
“Great. I’ve had a few conversations with Chad, and the team is primed and ready to go but they need some place to work.” I glance at Xavier. “Would you be willing to let them work from here? I was thinking we could clear out that space at the rear of the main room, put in desks, and you already have the technology all set up.”
“Can they be trusted to keep the location secret?” Xavier asks. “Because I’ve spent a small fortune building this place and I don’t want to risk losing it. We can’t risk losing it.”
“I’ll drill that point home, but they won’t say anything.”
