“Let me grab that,” he takes the two bags and then notices the overnight bag on my shoulder and smiles. But he doesn’t bring attention to it.

My heart is racing, not because I was nervous but because I know that tonight nothing is here to stop us. There have always been interruptions, or things that made us second guess our decisions.

  Tonight we are alone.

I follow him through the house and step into the kitchen as he places the bags on the counter.

“Wow,” I look around realizing how much things have changed since the last time I was here. “This looks amazing.” The cabinets are in place, the walls painted a pale shade of blue, almost a dusty gray actually. It was so bright, and I am surprised that he’d chosen the design.

“I saw it in a magazine,” I turn back around to face him. “I went into this remodel with no idea of what to do and then I found this magazine at Landon and Chloe’s.” I smile; Chloe is always picking up the latest home decor issue.

“She told me to take it and well,” he holds out his hand. “Here we are.”

“Well, it’s perfect,” I glide my hand over the counter and round it taking in every little detail.

“I love these doors,” the glass paneled doors that overlook the enclosed pack porch. “This place has a pool,” excitement races through me. An in-ground pool to be exact.

Terrance steps up behind me, placing one hand at each of my sides. “It needs to be power washed and repainted.” The feeling of his breath against the side of my neck sends chills throughout my body. “Maybe by next summer I’ll be able to open it up.”

I’d long ago forgotten about the pool, from the moment his hands touched me, everything disappeared.

“What did you bring for dinner?” He asked the question but again I can’t focus. His lips skim over my ear, as he trails kisses along my neck, and over my shoulder.

“Uh,” I try to reply, but words escape me when he lifts the strap to my tank top and pulls it over, allowing it to fall down my arm.

  “Are you hungry?” He asks.

“Yes,” I say and he pauses, and I turn in his arms looking up at him. “For you,” I’m starving.

Terrance reaches out, cupping my jaw and moves in closer, his lips barely touching my own.

“We don’t have to do this,” he insists.

“Yes, we do.” I skate my hands around his waist as I tuck them beneath the hem of his shirt. “I’ve waited so long for this.” I start to lift his shirt and he smiles. “Too long,” I add when his shirt hits the floor and I know right then and there, nothing is stopping us.

  CHAPTER

  TWENTY-FIVE

  Terrance

  * * *

Her back arches, as I place my palm to her lower stomach to hold her in place. Seeing Grace thrash and grip the sheets as I feast on her is an incredible sight. I could do it all day just to see her reaction.

Her cheeks are flushed, her lips are parted and the sweet little whimper she releases whenever I slip my finger inside of her almost makes me lose my control.

I sit up, grabbing for a condom and my heart races to the point that it feels as though it could beat right out of my chest.

She watches me with hooded eyes as she bites her lower lip in anticipation. I can barely wait to feel her wrapped around me. It was a dream I’ve had for far too long.

Gliding my hands over her thighs, her legs part even more, accepting me in the space.

I grip my hardness, dragging the head of my cock through her wetness just to hear her pleasant noises once again.

“Please,” she begs, and her plea is my undoing. I push inside of her, and the feeling of her heat takes my breath away. Nothing has ever felt so good. I bite down on my lip, trying to gain some kind of control but then she shifts against me, and I fear our time will come to end much too quickly.

“No,” I growl holding her hips tight taking in a deep breath. “I need a minute.”

She arches a brow and I grin, because my girl knows what she is doing to me.

“You’re dangerous,” I tell her and again she seems pleased.

After a few deep breaths I release my hold on her and she moves against me almost immediately. I look down and watch her take me over and over, feeling myself grow harder.

“We may not make it tomorrow,” I tell her as I push in deep, and she gasps. “It’d be hard to explain why the both of us can’t walk.” I have every intention of repeating this action over and over until neither of us can see straight.

Being inside Grace is the best feeling I’ve ever experienced. Her hands on my back, her leg hooked over my hip as she carefully rotates her hips accepting me in deeper. It is almost as if the two of us had done this a million times.

“You feel so good,” I tell her, before sucking on her neck.

Her nipples harden as they brush against my chest with every thrust of my hips. I didn’t want it to end, taking my time to enjoy her. She is snug, fitting me like a glove.

“Mmmm,” Grace moans when I push in as deep as I can and then grind against her.

Cupping her jaw, she looks up at me, as I cover her lips with my own. The gentle glide of her tongue over mine, the light suction she gives on the tip as I pull back, it’s an overload. Something inside of me breaks the last ounce of control I have, and I start moving inside of her harder and faster. She moans deeper, loader and matching my movements.

“Yes!” she pants, “Oh my God, yes!”

The pleasure she’s feeling is written all over her face and I’m a man’s man so that shit is like fuel to the fire. I reach between us needing to feel her hit her peek, hungry for the feeling of her falling over the edge while I’m buried deep.

“Let go,” I tell her desperate for it. “Let me feel you, baby.”

My words push her to her breaking point and she begins to pulsate, triggering a deep rumbling growl as my body trembles right along with hers as we cum together

She claws at my back, her teeth biting into my shoulder. The pain of it is drowned out by the intensity of my release. My head is cloudy, and my heart races.

I slow my movements, gently pumping my hips to drag it out as long as I could.

Our bodies both sticky from our exertion, but I lean in and hold her tighter.

This woman is the girl I’ve dreamt of for years. She’s the one responsible for so many memories, even if most of them were innocent and sweet. I know her, and she may be all grown up, she may no longer be that innocent girl of my past, but she is still my Grace.

  Mine.

I don’t care how that sounds, because now that I have her, there is no way I’m ever letting her go. She is a part of me, a part I will not give up.

I glance over and smile, as Grace lifts yet another greasy fry from the bag and tilts her head back. She starts to chew and pauses looking across the cab of my truck at me.

“Whaa?” She mumbles around a mouth full, her dimple peeking out in her left cheek.

“You’re sexy even when you eat.” I tell her and she laughs, before chewing obnoxiously.

  “How about now?” She asks.

“More so now,” I place my hand on her thigh and turn back to the road. This feels right, her and me. The comfortable state we’ve fallen into, the familiarity, it feels incredible.

I’d spent more of my life than I should’ve on my own. After I lost my grandparents I’d truly had no one until I met Rhett. I didn’t go home to a family that loved me, I didn’t have family dinners where everyone laughed and hassled each other. I went home alone, to a dark house, and sat in a quiet room. That was until my father got drunk to the point that he grew angry. Of course that always led to him telling me the hundred different ways I’d managed to ruin his life and in the end one or both of us were bloody.

I didn’t share much about my life with anyone, Rhett knew some. But I’d been embarrassed of the shit that took place under the roof of the place a kid should feel safe.

“What are you thinking?” I look over to find Grace watching me with her brows furrowed. I hadn’t meant to get lost in the ugliness of my past.

“I’m good,” I feel her gliding my palm over her soft smooth thigh. “Just glad I finally got my head out of my ass is all.”

Her frown shifts to a smile. “Me too, it was hell waiting for you.”

I slow to a stop at then lift her hand and drag my thumb over her jaw. When she leans in and kisses me I can taste the salt on her lips.

“No more waiting,” I assure her. “I was an idiot for ever letting you walk away. I won’t make that mistake again.”

Lost in the kiss, I’d forgotten that I was sitting at a stop sign until someone blared their horn behind us.

We both laugh until I look back to find that it is Reed, her father in the truck behind us. My heart feels like it hits the seat and I hang my head. Of course, my little devil in the passenger seat laughs.

“Go ahead and laugh sweetheart, but what we did last night and again this morning won’t be possible once he castrates me for touching his daughter.”

She quickly glanced back as I start to pull forward and then looks back at me. “Maybe we should skip the lunch,” her eyes were wide in the cutest fucking way. “Or I’ll just cry, and he’ll leave you alone. He hates when I cry.”

I’d have to agree, I’ve never liked it when she was sad, even before I’d ever thought of her as more than a kid. If I’m being honest Grace is and has always been the only person that when she cried, I’d felt that shit deep.

“Thanks babe,” I linked my fingers with hers and brought our joined hands to my lips, kissing her knuckles. “But there will be no tears.”

I turn down the lane that leads to her grandparents place and slow to a stop next to Mike’s truck. Putting my truck in park and look back to find Reed parking directly behind me and I chuckle. “Looks like your father isn’t gonna give me the chance to run.”

“Oh hell,” her little country girl twang was strong as she narrowed her eyes at her father as he climbs out of his truck. “I know you said no, but I may have to pull out the big guns. He looks like he’s on a mission.” Just then a knock on my window makes my pulse quicken because I already know who is standing just outside my door.

A jaw flexing, irritated looking Reed.

“Dad,” Grace warns from across the cab as I open my door and climb out. Reed steps back but shows no signs of relaxation as he looks at me like I committed the ultimate crime. If the man only knew what I was doing to his daughter at about five a.m. this morning the kiss he’d just witnessed is nothing.

“Why don’t you take a walk Grace?” He says to her and I don’t look away from him but I can imagine her rolling her eyes.

Then I hear the door on the opposite side slam and her yelling out for someone before she appears at my side. Quickly she steps in between me and her father.

“Seriously, will you stop it,” her irritation is evident. The problem is the two of them I swear were cut from the same cloth and neither looked as though they were ready to back down.

“What’s going on?” Kori, Grace’s mom says as she rounds the front of my truck and pauses near us with her hands on her hips.

“He kissed me,” Grace huffs trying to nudge her father back.

“It’s okay,” I try to assure her. “Why don’t you and your mom take off and let us talk?” I know I may have been cutting my own head off, but this could be worked out. Couldn’t it?

“All this over a kiss,” Kori laughs and Grace crosses her arms over her chest.

“At a damn stop sign at the edge of town. It was more than any father should see when it comes to his little girl.”

“For the hundredth time I am not a little girl.” I chuckle when she stomps her foot, and I notice a smirk on her father’s lips.

“Throwing a temper tantrum is not gonna convince me.” He adds and she looks back over her shoulder scowling at me and then does the same to her father.

“That was not a tantrum. It’s me getting real tired of having to remind you that I am a grown woman that doesn’t need my dad declaring war on a guy because he kissed me.”

“A guy?” I said from behind her, and she waves me off.

  Again, her father smirks.

“If I want to kiss a random stranger on the corner, I will.”

“Excuse me?” I poke at her side, and she slaps my hand away.

“If I want to dance around with a group of men, I can.”

“Um, no,” I add and she glares at me.

How in the hell did this all get turned on me?

“Stop treating me like I’m ten,” she places her hands on her hips. “It was a kiss; I’ve seen you and momma do a heck of a lot more over the years.”

“Your mother and I are married,” Reed states and Grace throws her hands up in the air.

“So what, I can’t be kissed until I'm married?”

“Not where I can see it.” Reed crosses his arms much like Grace had only moment ago.

“You are ridiculous.” Again she stomps her foot, and again I laugh.

  Mistake, big one, huge.

Grace spins around and narrows her eyes at me. “Stop laughing at me!” She pushes on my chest, “Nothing about this is funny.”

She then storms off leaving me and her father, with her mother at our side staring after her.

“I was gonna have a little talk with you about public affection, and respect, but her being pissed at you sorta makes it pointless.” I shift my attention to Reed to find him grinning.

“She’s pissed at me, and I didn’t do anything.”

“I know,” he slaps my shoulder. “It’s great, isn’t it.”

He doesn’t wait for me to respond instead he steps closer to Kori, gives her a kiss on the cheek and walks off leaving me shaking my head in disbelief.

“Word of advice,” Kori offers and I nod. “Don’t ever laugh at Grace when she’s worked up. It backfires every single time.”

“Thanks,” though I’d already figured that out the hard way.

“Has she been avoiding you all day?” Landon asks and I only nod once, lifting my beer up to take another sip. “Dirty looks too?” Again I nod. “That shit runs in this crowd of women,” he adds. “It’s better to remain silent and have no reaction at all. You smile, it’s because you think their ridiculous, you frown it’s because you disagree with them. One wrong move and you are in the doghouse.”

“Got it,” I hated the doghouse. I want to go back to our bubble, the one where she is naked, and I am God. I love that bubble, this one, it sucks.

“Gracie is shooting daggers your way,” Rhett joins us, sitting down and kicking out his legs.

“Your dad managed to piss her off and now I’m the bad guy.”

“From what I heard you laughed at her,” he said with a pleased grin, “twice.” Then he chuckles much like Reed had and I take in a deep breath. In that moment I want to punch my best friend.

“You laughed?” Mike came out of nowhere. “Wrong move brother.”

“She stomped her foot like a toddler, and it sort of fell out.”

  “Twice?” Rhett asks.

“Shut up asshole, or I’ll sick AJ on you.”

Just then I noticed Grace looking at me, and I jut out my lip like I was pouting. When she looks away quickly I didn’t miss the smile tugging at her lips and I knew then, it’d be okay. I’d get her alone sooner than later and make her forget why she was ever mad at me in the first place.

“He looks sad,” Julian pouts. “Like he lost his best friend.”

“My brother is his best friend,” I mumble around my beer, before taking a big drink.

“Do you know how hard it is to stand up to my father and defend not only myself, but also Terrance, when he’s laughing behind me?”

“He said you stomped your feet.” I turn to my left and lean over peeking around Chloe to find Landon with a smile on his face.

“Do you want to be in the doghouse too?” Quickly he looks to Chloe and then straight ahead choosing to plead the fifth. “Good option.”

Chloe laughs and kisses his cheek, triggering me to roll my eyes.

“I’m just saying that maybe you could give him a pass on this one.” Julian hands me a shot and I accept it graciously. “Poor guy looked lost when he left your grandparents house.”

“Do you think I’m being stupid?”

“About ignoring him, yes,” Julian wastes no time replying, only it wasn’t the question I was looking for an answer to.

“I meant about getting involved with him?” I notice the way everyone grows silent around me. Chloe, Julian, even Landon who was now leaning over, resting on his elbows, looking at me. “I’m only here for the summer then I’m back to school, more than five hours away. I can’t expect him to wait for me.”

“Of course you can,” Chloe declares. “That is exactly what you can expect.”

“He’s a guy,” I shrug. “A good looking one with a big, beautiful house and a good job. There’s gonna be someone that comes along and realizes how great he is, and I won’t be here to stop it from happening.”

“He bought that house for you,” Landon interrupts my drunken ramble and all three of us stare at him without responding. “No one else knows that, and technically I’m not supposed to know but he was drunk and rambling much like you are now.”

“He bought that house for him.” I correct him and he smiles.

“Yeah, but also for you,” he turns in his stool to completely face me. “He’d made up his mind that while you were out there living your life and experiencing things outside of your dad and brothers hold, he was gonna make some changes. He started pulling longer shifts, taking on side jobs whenever Reed had them available. He tucked away every dime he could and then when he found that place, we all thought he was crazy. He must have looked at it ten times, making plans, and envisioning things no one else could see. No one else but your dad, that is.”
