During the time that she’d been banished from Imani’s life, Mila had tried out numerous hosts, but none of their bodies fit as perfectly as Imani’s had. And now that Imani had a child as well as a husband, her life was even more compatible with the lifestyle that Mila desired.
She followed Imani and her family home, and floated effortlessly past their front door. She hovered over the baby—soon to be her baby—as Imani bathed him and tucked him into bed.
Mila had learned a lot in the two and a half years since she’d inhabited Imani’s body, and now she was stronger than ever and able to withstand silly potions and prayers.
