One Day, page 12
It was the week before Christmas and everyone had gathered at Saron for an early celebration, Ash and Luke flying in from Singapore and Lana and Tom joining them from Shanghai for the weekend. It was the first time all of them were together since Cam and Gabe’s wedding.
Luke smiled and wrapped an arm around Ash’s waist. “It was well overdue,” he murmured, ruffling Ash’s hair with his lips. “Besides, the number of women throwing themselves at this kid’s feet since he started working was seriously beginning to piss me off.”
“Ah-ha,” Eveline said with a grin. “So, you’re just marking your territory?”
“I get the feeling Luke marks his territory in plenty other ways,” Wade drawled, his gaze on the fresh hickey on Ash’s neck.
Ash blushed fiercely, much to everyone’s amusement.
“So, how’s wedded life suiting you two?” Lana asked Gabe and Cam.
They exchanged smiles. “It’s good,” Gabe said quietly.
“It’s more than good,” Cam murmured, dropping a kiss on his husband’s lips. “It’s goddamn perfect.”
“If it wasn’t for the fact that I am also a soon-to-be-married man, I would be seriously disgusted right now,” Ethan said tartly.
“This wedding bug really is catching,” Rhys said with a grin, linking his hand with Wade’s. An engagement ring gleamed on their fingers.
“So, anyone got a date in mind yet?” Lincoln asked. “Eveline and I were thinking next year.”
“Oh?” Tom raised an eyebrow. “Lana and I are thinking next year too, after the baby is born.”
“So are we,” Ethan said.
“Same here,” Luke murmured.
“Ditto,” Wade said.
Gabe straightened on his bar stool and studied his friends with an intense expression, a crazy idea taking shape in his mind. “November,” he stated.
They all stared at him.
“On our anniversary,” Gabe continued, excitement surging through him as he glanced at Cam. “Why don’t you all get married in one year? We’ll all share the same wedding day and—”
“We’ll be able to celebrate our anniversaries on the same day every year,” Ethan said, his green eyes sparkling with delight. “It’d be another reason for us to get together.”
“That’s a crazy idea,” Eveline said, her blue eyes wide.
“Crazy good or crazy bad?” Lincoln asked pensively. “‘Cause I kinda like it.”
“Crazy good!” Lana and Eveline exclaimed at the same time.
They laughed and exchanged thrilled glances.
“I like it too,” Luke said. He took Ash’s hand and kissed his knuckles, his amber eyes glowing warmly.
“I second that,” Ash said.
“That’s a yes for us, too,” Rhys said. Wade nodded.
“Tom?” Lana asked.
“Sounds good to me,” Tom said with a smile.
Ethan looked at Joe. “What do you think?”
Joe wrapped his arms around Ethan and kissed his cheek. “I think it’s a wonderful idea. I’ve got one question though. Where the hell are we going to do this?”
“Well, we can use my resort again,” Lincoln suggested.
“Or our island,” Ash said. He glanced at Luke. “Our place should be ready by then.” Luke dipped his chin.
Ethan arched an eyebrow and looked around their group. “So, we’re really setting the date?”
Everyone grinned.
“We’re setting the date,” Rhys said.
They raised their glasses and toasted one another.
