Little did she know her life would be turned upside down when she ran into Mark Selzer in the elevator.Expecting their one night of passion to be only that, Caroline is shocked when Mark shows up at her door two weeks later. Will she be able to open up enough to let him into her life? And how will she react when she finds out he's the heir to the largest resort company in the country? This 15,000 word story is the first instalment in The Billionaire's Command trilogy. Here's an excerpt:On the fourth day, Lisa and I were going to leave the resort and go find somewhere nice to eat along the main strip. We were just leaving the hotel when I realized I’d left my sunglasses in my room.“Crap. Can you wait for me in the lobby? It’s so bright out I don’t think I’ll be able to see anything if I don’t take my sunglasses.”“Yeah, sure,” Lisa replied, and I made my way back to the elevator. I was racking my brain trying to remember where I had put the sunglasses, so much so that I didn’t notice the man coming out of the elevators when the doors opened, and I barrelled straight into him.“Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” I exclaimed, embarrassed.“No, no, it was my fault. I apologize,” the man replied, grabbing my shoulders gently to steady me. His touch was strong, confident, and it sent a surge of electricity running through me. I looked up at the man, and my breath caught in my throat.Looking down at me was the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen in my life. High cheekbones, a day’s worth of dark brown stubble, hair that seemed to practically flow from his head in a polo shirt and jeans that looked formal somehow, here in Hawaii. I grabbed his arm to steady myself, the hard muscles of his biceps bulging against my skin. For the first time in my life, I found myself completely speechless. I wanted to say something, anything, but no words were coming out of my mouth. I was completely captivated, taken in by the man’s glistening blue eyes, like the deep waters here on the Hawaiian coast.“Are you alright?” he asked me, his voice kind, but deep.“Yes. Yes, I’m fine. Thank you,” I stammered, feeling like an idiot. The man smiled at me and I melted into a pool on the elevator floor.“Perfect. Sorry about that once more,” he told me, leaving the elevator. I watched as the man walked away and the doors closed behind me. As the elevator slid smoothly up to the 12th floor I had completely forgotten what I even came up here for. I couldn’t think about anything except that guy.

Romance

Daniel and Kylie begin to adapt to their new lives in the outside world together, having left rehab. Daniel's hockey team is doing well, and Kylie is acing her classes, but when the family of the man who hit her car sues Kylie for pain and suffering, it brings back a number of bad memories. Will Kylie be able to keep herself together, or will she fall back to the alcohol she used to depend on? This 20,000 word story is the third and final part of the On Thin Ice trilogy. Please enjoy this excerpt: “So when the regular season starts are you going to be playing again?” “I hope so. I think so. Dan thinks if we’re pretty aggressive with my rehab for the next month that it should be possible. I know that it’s not extremely important if I don’t, but I’d like to be back in time for the start of the year.” “Yeah, you had the surgery in July, three months recovery is pretty damn good for an athelete.” “I was lucky that the tears weren’t too bad, definitely.” When we finished our food, we cracked open our fortune cookies. ‘Anything is possible if you really believe’, mine said. I smiled at the words. I believed them now. After I saw Daniel skating around on the ice today, the same Daniel who winced when he showed me how to lunge because his knee was in so much pain, I knew that what my fortune cookie said was right. Anything was possible. It just took a lot of hard work. Our food discarded, I scooched in to be closer to Daniel. We sat together, me resting in between his legs, leaning back against him as his arms wrapped around my waist. I took his hands in mine, and we watched the lake in silence for a while. This was perfect. Absolutely perfect. “I love you, Kylie,” Daniel suddenly said, out of nowhere. I hadn’t been expecting it, but it felt so right to hear right now. It felt nice to hear. “I love you too,” I replied, leaning back against him. I closed my eyes. Daniel loved me. He had just told me he loved me. I thought before that the situation was perfect, but I was wrong. Now it was perfect.

Romance

As Kylie and Daniel are getting closer to each other, both of them rue the rule at the clinic that keeps them from having the relationship they both want. But as they spend more time with each other, Kylie notices the passion in Daniel, and convinces him to get the surgery for his knee and continue his career in hockey. But when she reveals her own inner demons to Daniel, will he be able to convince her that she isn’t beyond hope either? This 20,000 word story is the second part of the On Thin Ice trilogy. Please enjoy the following excerpt: Suddenly, I let out a small cry as I looked down at Daniel’s leg. I hadn’t realized that there was blood pouring down it. He must have hurt it when he fell to the ground. It wasn’t like one of his major arteries had been hit, but there was definitely a good amount of blood. I couldn’t believe I didn’t notice it before, I must have been so wrapped up in his story. “I didn’t realize you were bleeding,” I exclaimed, jumping up to find a first aid kit. I knew there had to be one around here somewhere, we were in a gym, after all. I found it on a shelf near the exit and quickly came back with it to Daniel. “Don’t worry, it’s fine. It doesn’t hurt on the outside nearly as much as on the inside.” “No, but you’re still losing way too much blood to just leave it there bleeding.”I opened the box and grabbed a large bandage, which I pressed to the wound. “Keep that there until the bleeding stops, I’ll be right back,” I ordered, grabbing a small cloth from the kit and going into the change room. When I came back with my cloth, which was now wet, Daniel was still obediently holding the bandage to his leg. “Has the bleeding stopped?” I asked. “I think so, mostly,” he replied, moving the bandage aside so I could have a look. Sure enough, the bleeding had basically ebbed, only a tiny amount of red still leaked from the wound. I took my cloth and very carefully cleaned the wound, making sure there were no little bits of rock or anything still inside of Daniel. I grabbed some antibiotic cream from the kit and gently spread a thin layer of it across the wound. I was all too aware of Daniel’s eyes watching me as I stroked his skin, and I could feel my own body reacting in a way I didn’t want it to. When I was finished, I took a fresh bandage from the kit and wrapped it around the wound. “Good. You should be fine. Take these extra bandages and change it every day, then in a few days take the bandage off completely and let the wound air heal.” “Thank you doctor,” Daniel replied with a grin, and I realized just how close we were to one another. The tension between us was palpable. I could feel the electricity between us, I could feel my lips moistening, and other parts of me moistening as well. I could feel the heat radiating off him, and as he moved his head closer to mine, I moved in as well. He was intoxicating, there was no way to resist him. I didn’t want to resist him. Fuck the consequences. I wanted Daniel, and I wanted him now.**
