You were born prematurely four months later weighing in at 8 pounds 12 ounces. People would stand outside of the NICU and marvel at the huge baby with the bright red, curly hair. I was finally in love, but it was with you, my baby boy.

The marriage didn't last much longer and that was for the best. I was set free with you in tow and this is the part where I finally had enough and set out to be a writer.

In the end, this was a rescue, but I ended up rescuing myself and taking you with me. It's been a great life. Love, Mom. More adventures to follow.

  AUTHOR NOTES - MICHAEL ANDERLE

  JULY 19, 2022

Thank you for reading this book and these author notes as well!

I had nothing to do with the size of these author notes.

OK, so I was traveling from the doctor the other day and called Martha to just catch up. She had just received the news that she was done with all the chemo, and everything looked excellent!

Unfortunately, that’s when she dropped the next bombshell on me.

I had simply made the comment that because of her being cancer free, I was not going to be “author blocked” for a while. However, she then told me about this damned answer a question for her son stuff she was doing.

Anyway, I sit here having just read her first author notes, all 1500 words of them, and I’m shaking my head. I’m not sure that I have a good story related to knowing when to ask for marriage, because it would take a lot longer than I can potentially put in the back of this book.

Why can’t I? I’m glad you asked! It’s because Martha Carr just took a ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED words at the end of this book.

I would consider that a little greedy. No, I would consider 1,500 words a lot greedy. But I can’t say that because she’s answering a great question for her son.

And it would be rude. I mean… that’s just…rude. Right!?

In fact, I would suspect that I have just added 300 or 400 words of my own to these author notes, merely trying to express that I am so screwed with the next year of author notes when it comes to Martha.

I will say my (very very very short) story of my first non-marriage was related to shopping for dinnerware at Macy’s.

Picture, if you will, a young man merely 20-something years old and not really all that great with relationships in the first place. I was going through the fine China area with my then girlfriend, who made a comment related to getting married or that she would be happy to marry me. I thought that was her intention to say marry me already.

  I was so wrong.

However, I didn’t understand that I was wrong until after I purchased the ring, asked her to marry me (she had said yes), and we moved forward towards getting married.

Fortunately for both of us (I believe we were too young at the time to get married), that whole effort derailed, and we went our seperate ways.

I hope she has done well in her life, but I lost track of her some 20+ years ago or so.

If you get anything from the stories Martha and I tell, it is that asking or being asked to be married is fraught with danger. I suggest you go read a great urban fantasy book instead.

  Just kidding!

  Ad Aeternitatem,

  Michael Anderle
