Two years after his parents disappeared from their home in Nigeria, Ozzie is adopted and moves to Canada. At his new school, Ozzie and the other Nigerian immigrant classmates compete for time on the soccer field with a team of Syrian refugees captained by Victor. Despite being rivals, Ozzie and Victor are asked to combine their two teams to challenge the division champions. A school soccer program for all the students is on the line. Can Ozzie and Victor unite to make two groups of resilient refugees into one team?

Victor is the captain of a soccer team of recently arrived refugee kids. He struggles to focus on his game during a big tournament because he is haunted by the memory of losing his grandfather back in war-torn Syria and he is worrying about his brother who is at home sick with pneumonia.
