We were halfway through eating Adam just got up to use the bathroom but I kept feeling like someone was looking at me, I start scamming the restaurant my eyes landing on a guy who looked a few years older than Bobby. He had a laptop in front of him but he held a phone that looked like was pointing at us, this made alarm bells start ringing in my mind what if he's one of the guys that took my parents
"Bobby I think that guys recording us" I say making him look over at the guy before he grabs my hand throws some money on the table before walking us out the restaurant
"Adams still in there" I say making us stop Bobby sigh in frustration unlocking his car going to the boot and pulling out what looked like a handgun
"Is that a gun?"I say looking at him shocked before he throws one to Christian making me just look at them just full on shocked
"I'll go get Adam you stay out here with Emily if anyone comes you know what to do" he says to Christian making him nod before Bobby disappears around the corner leading back into the restaurant
I stand there in silence terrified that's the first time I've ever seen a gun in person my own brother holding it
"Do you think he's gonna use it?" I ask Christian who still held the gun with both hands looking around for anyone
"If he has to" he says looking at me for a brief second before continuing to look for people
A few moments before the silence is filled by the sound of a gun going off making me jump and run over to Christian who pointed the gun getting ready to fire at anyone that ran at us, round the corner ran Bobby and a very terrified Adam
"Get in the car" Bobby says as we all run to the car climbing in before Bobby turns the engine on driving full speed down the road away from the restaurant
"Did anyone seen you that shouldn't?" Christian asks Bobby
"No we were outside the restaurant and gone before anyone realised what happened?" Bobby says making the car spin round a corner
"You killed him" Adam said looking at the seat that was in front of him his face drained of colour
"I had too" was all Bobby said leaving the car to fall silent not even Adam trying to speak up.
Chapter Six- We’re Gonna Die
Emily's POV
We drove in silence for a few more minutes no one knew what to say, Adam just stared out the window he started to worry me cause he always has something to say but he's just sitting there silent. I grab his hand making him turn to look at me I smile he sends me a small smile back before looking out the window once more, I sigh looking out the window myself my hand not leaving his at all knowing I think we both needed some comfort
We pull up near a little corner shop Christian saying he wants to grab something, Adam joined him so it was just Bobby and I in a silent car. I just stared out the window not wanting to make eye contact with him, he just killed someone my own brother I never thought he was like that
"Dad would have done the same thing"he says breaking the silence making me look over at him "he would have done that to protect you and mum so I did it too"
"It's fine I know you did it to keep us safe" I say looking back out the window
"You I did it to keep you safe, I don't give a flying fuck about the other two but you my little sister, I told dad I'd look after you" he says looking back at me from the front
"Where are they Bobby?" I sigh looking over at him
"We'll find them I promise" he says as the guys come back Adam looking like his normal self again
"Ready to go?" Bobby asks turning back around and before long we were on the move again
We drive for a while before I start recognising things that we pass, it takes me a few minutes before I finally realise where we are
"Uncle Marley lives this way" I say to Bobby
"Well let's drop in" he says doing a quick turn down another road heading towards Marley's house
"Haven't you heard of phoning ahead?" Adam says from the back as Bobby takes another sharp turn
"He says we can visit whenever we like, let's take him up on his kind offer" he says as he pulls up right outside his house making us in the back smash into the front seats
"Thanks Bob" I say sitting forward rubbing my face
"Its not my fault you can't handle my driving" he laughs getting out we all follow his lead and get out with him
"What if he's not home?"I ask as we start making our way over to the front door
"This guy has no life he's always in" Bobby says knocking on the door
"Bobby we haven't seen him in over three years we can't just turn up and expect him to let us in" I say but the door was opened
"Bobby Emily what are you doing here?" He asks but he looked me happy than anything
"Just a quick visit come on" Bobby says pushing past him and into the house
"Sorry about Bobby" I smile being the last to walk in
"It's fine Emily it's always a pleasure to have you here" he smiles closing the door behind me
We walk into the sitting room where the guys were already sitting
"We made ourselves at home" Bobby says sitting back on the sofa he doesn't really like Marley our dad doesn't either
I walk over and sit next to him looking at the ground, he's mums twin brother I know a question is gonna pop up about her I have no idea how we're gonna answer it
"So what brings you here?" He asks sitting on the little sofa that was just across from us
"Like I said just a quick visit, we were in the area and I thought why don't we go see our uncle he has no one else visiting him it'll be nice" Bobby says making me hit him telling me not to start
"How's your mum?" He asks making me look up at Bobby not knowing how we're meant to answer that question
"Have you got a life yet?" Bobby asks changing the subject away from my parents
"I'm loving this family reunion" Adam says from across the room
"I don't understand your problem with me Bobby" Marley says "just because your father isn't my biggest fan doesn't mean we can't get along"
"My father just isn't a big fan he hates your guts" Bobby says which was true our father has never liked him i remember my mum telling me something about bomb fire night
Before anyone could say anything else the door started to knock making all of us jump well everyone apart from Marley he doesn't know what's going on
"I'll get it"Marley says getting up to walk out but Bobby stops him while Christian closes the sitting room door so no one can leave
Bobby walks over to the window moving the curtain back so he could see the front door
"Why are we panicking so much it could be one of his mates coming to see him" Adam says quietly from across the room
"Like I've been saying this man has no life we're probably his first visitors in months" Bobby says but he quickly moves from the window telling us to all drop to the floor
"It's one of his men stay quiet let's hope he leaves" he says as we all lay on the floor hoping the guy leaves
"What is going on? You better not have brought some gang business to my door I had enough of that with your father" Marley says making me look over at him confused
"What do you mean?" I ask but Bobby is quick to shut Marley up before he could answer
"I know you kids are in there I just want to talk" a guy voice came from the letter box making my heart rate go up
"They know we're here" Adam says stating the obvious
"Okay everyone crawl over to the door quietly, Marley go answer the door but don't tell him we're here" Bobby says as we start slowly crawling out the living room
"Do it or your gonna have to tell your sister how you let her two kids die" Bobby says as Christian opens the cupboard under the stairs telling us get in
We all squeeze in closing the door behind us as the front door got opened
"Can I help you?" Marley says acting normal
"I know they're in here that car belongs to them" the guys says it sounded like he pushed past Marley and walked in the house
"We're gonna die" Adam says but he all look at him telling me to shut up
"If your talking about my niece and nephew then no they're not here, they dropped that car off a few hours ago then left didn't tell me why" Marley says "I didn't question them I mean with what they're father does I'm not surprised if it's got something to do with gang stuff" he says making me look over at Bobby why does he keep saying my dads connected to gang stuff in some way
The handle of the cupboard starts going but Christian grabs the door so it can't open
"That door hasn't been opened in about ten years I lost the key you see, I can't even remember what's in there if I'm telling you the truth" Marley says making the grip on the door go
"If I find out your lying to me I will come back and kill you" the guy says
"Then I guess we'll never meet again" Marley says as the front door gets closed Christian slowly opening the cupboard
"He's gone you can come out but your explaining to me what's going on" Marley says but only Bobby walked out telling us to stay where we were totally ignoring what Marley had said before he checked the guy actually leaves
I walk over to Marley slowly and hug him thanking him for not telling the man we were actually here
"It's fine Emily you remind me so much of your mum, I know something's up with her and your father so when you do get the chance tell her I said hi" he says hugging back just as Bobby walked back through the door
"We don't have time for this stuff we need to leave before that guy comes back" Bobby says grabbing my arm and pulling me away from Marley
"Bobby they were having a moment!" Adam says who was still was in the cupboard
Bobby doesn't listen and walks me over to the door, he slowly opens it look both ways before he makes us run over to his car us all getting in. I turn back around as we drive away to see uncle Marley waving from his front door
Chapter Seven- Crazy Friend
We drove for a while after leaving Marley's wanting to get as much distance between us and that guy as we could, it started to get dark Adam was already fast asleep beside me Christian just woke up from having a nap but Bobby was yawning his head off
"Why don't I take over the driving give you time to rest?" Christian says to Bobby clocking on too that he was really tired
"No it's fine I can keep going" Bobby says straighten up trying to act like he wasn't tired but he wasn't fooling anyone
"Just pull over and let him drive I don't want you falling asleep on the wheel so all of us die" I say making Adam just awake
"We're gonna crash" he says half asleep making me laugh a little
"No Adam we're fine go back to sleep" I say rubbing his arm after a few seconds we went back to dream land
"Okay fine I'll pull over now but you have to keep driving we don't know if that guys following us or not" he says pulling up at the side of the road while we all changed seats well apart from Adam who was fast asleep with his head on the window
I went in the passengers seat while Bobby got in the back, I had a nap earlier and wasn't tired at all so I could keep Christian company while he drove
We continued on our journey again Bobby falling asleep within minutes, Christian and I just chatted for a while
"Your brother doesn't like to admit he needs sleep like the rest of us" he laughed making me laugh a little
"No he doesn't he wants to make us all think he can take anything and how he can protect us all" I say looking back out the window into the night
"He wants to be like your father and protect you, he's putting on this act so you don't get afraid about what's happening because in reality he's afraid about what's happening as much as everyone else "he says making me look over at him in shock
I knew Bobby was putting on this act like he had everything handled and he wasn't scared but he really is, I know he said he told dad he'd protect me but I didn't think he'd go as far as pretend everything's fine
I look back at Bobby to see him fast asleep
"He kept doing that when you were asleep earlier, he says he needed to keep checking on you so he knew you were okay" Christian says making me turn back around again
"Bobby's never gonna tell me but please can you?" I say looking over at him making him look at me for a second confused
"Tell you what?" He asks
"What is the real reason my parents have been taken? Marley kept saying my dad was involved in gang stuff I just want to know the truth" I say making me sigh
"It's none of my business Emily, it's not my place to tell you" he says making me get annoyed
"Then if it's none of your business then why come on the trip with us to get them back" I say crossing my arms looking ahead
"Bobby's a good a friend of mine of course I'd help, and my fathers good friends with your dad he'd tell me to help" he says looking over at me a few times
I just turn to look out the window knowing he isn't gonna tell me which annoyed me, it's got to do with my family I don't get why I can't know they're my parents
"The less you know Emily the better" he says making me look over at him
"What do you mean?" I ask but he just shakes his head
"If you knew everything you wouldn't see your family in the same light again" he says making me turn to look out the window not knowing how to take what he told me
We needed to fill up the car so we quickly pulled up at a random petrel station, it was around 2:30am Bobby and Adam were still fast asleep in the back. After what Christian told me we didn't really speak after that, I was just trying to figure out what he meant about me not seeing my family in the same light if I knew everything. He starts filling up the car I get out with him just watching
"I'm sorry about the way I spoke to you" I say leaning on the car
"It's fine Emily if I were in your shoes I bet I'd act the same" he smiles looking towards me
"I'm just so confused a few days ago my life was normal, I went to college hung out with my friends and my family were still about, but within a space of a day my whole world has just turned upside down" I say looking up into the night sky
"Hey it's gonna be fine, we'll find your family and everything will get back to normal I promise" he says putting one of his hands on the side of my face
Before we could speak anymore Adam opens the car door and gets out making us pull apart Christian finishing filling the car up
"I'm just gonna see it they have a toilet don't let me interrupt you" he says quickly walking away but I didn't miss the wink he sent me
"You have a crazy friend" Christian laughs
"Don't I know it but I wouldn't have him any other way" I laugh
He goes to pay while I wait outside the car liking the fresh air, not too long after Adam walks out from the bathroom
"I seen what happened I told you he had a thing for you" he smiles standing beside me
"No he doesn't we were just chatting" I say rolling my eyes
"Oh yeah cause when someone places they're hand on the side of your face the way he did to you that's just chatting" he says crossing his arms as Christian walks back out the petrel station
"Shut up" i smile getting back into the passengers seat as they both get back in there's and we continue our journey
Chapter Eight- A Plan
I wake up to see Bobby was now driving and it was light outside meaning it's the morning, I must have fell asleep at some point last night I sit up properly and rub my eyes
"Did you have a good sleep?" Bobby asks smiling from the drivers seat
"As good as a one I'm gonna get sleeping in a car" I say doing a little stretch again being in a car I can't really do that "where's Christian?"
"He's asleep I woke up a few hours ago so I took over, you were asleep so he went to the back not wanting to wake you up" he smiles making me smile
"Yeah you've been asleep for hours" Adam says from the back
"I'm sorry I was awake all night while you slept" I say looking back at him
"Oh it's alright Bobby and I had some quality time together like you did with Christian" he says sending me a wink that I was so happy Bobby didn't see
I send him a hard look telling him to shut up he just stuck his hands up in surrender
"I wish you would stop saying my little sister and my best friend have a thing going on, cause that's definitely not gonna happen" Bobby says for some reason when he said that I got a bit upset and annoyed but I didn't know why it's not like I like Christian in that way
"Come on they'll be cute together" Adam says again from the back making me want to throw something at him for continuing with the conversation
"No they wouldn't, he's like 2 years older than her I won't let them be a thing" Bobby says I could tell he was starting to get annoyed with this conversation
"That's enough Adam let's change the subject" I smile
"What you guys talking about?"Christian voice came from the back you could hear he just woke up
"Oh how you and Emily should be a thing" Adam says making me again want to hit him
"What?" Christian says looking at all of us shocked and confused
"Just forget about it Christian, Adams just being.....well Adam" I say turning back around looking out the window "I'm not trying to sound annoying or anything but I haven't changed my clothes or had a shower in nearly 3 days" I say
"Yeah I agree with Emily, can we please find a place where we can change and have a shower?" Adam says
"Even though you didn't bring any clothes" I say looking back at him he just left with us he didn't have time to pack a bag or anything
"Bobby won't mind me borrowing some of his clothes would you" Adams says but Bobby just shakes his head
"Your definitely not bowering any of my clothes, they wouldn't fit anyway your smaller than me" Bobby says Adam just smirked wow he has such a dirty mind
"Let's keep an eye out for a little hotel or something" Christian says
Around half an hour later we pull up at a little hotel, we all climb out going to the back to grab our bags before we made our way into the hotel. We booked two rooms Bobby and I sharing Christian and Adam sharing the other, I had the first go in the shower I made sure I didn't take too long knowing Bobby doesn't want us to stay here very long and he needs to have one after me
